Welcome to Kennedy Fishing Legacy. We are a multigenerational family team. Our family brings over four decades of proven coastal Georgia angling expertise to every trip. Operating out of St. Simons Island, GA, we specialize in inshore fishing and customized kids & family trips designed for anglers of all ages and skill levels. Having navigated these rivers since 1980, fishing is more than a pastime for us—it is a three-generation family tradition. Captain Rusty is a decorated tournament veteran who now dedicates his time to sharing his love for fishing. Whether you are looking for a high action fishing charter or a patient, engaging guide to teach your kids the fundamentals of the sport, there is no better mentor to lead the way. We offer light tackle fishing aboard our 24 ft. bay boat in the Brunswick, St. Simons, and the Golden Isles area. Our primary target species include Speckled Trout, Redfish, and Flounder. Other species we often see in our area are Sheepshead, Black Drum, Croaker, whiting, and seasonal catches like Tarpon and Tripletail. In addition to our renowned guided fishing trips in St. Simons Island, we also offer memorable family boat rides, wildlife eco-tours, and relaxing sunset cruises through the marsh. These peaceful excursions provide a front-row seat to the area's rich coastal ecosystem, complete with local dolphin pods, birdwatching, and beautiful shorelines. From the quiet, sun-drenched summer mornings chasing nearshore sharks to the highly strategic winter Speckled Trout havens, every season offers a unique opportunity to create lifelong memories.

Summer is in full swing here in the Golden Isles, and the local waters are incredibly active. The massive influx of baitfish has officially moved into our sounds and along the beaches, turning on a highly consistent bite. The warm July weather and massive tidal swings have created the perfect environment for both our inshore and nearshore fishing trips.

For families joining us on the water, the nearshore shark bite has been fast and steady. It is a fantastic way to keep rods bending and young anglers fully engaged during our morning charters. We are also seeing a healthy number of Tarpon—the famous Silver Kings of the coast—rolling near the inlets, and sight-casting for Tripletail near the surface has been highly productive on the calmer days. In the shallower tidal creeks, our light-tackle setup is consistently pulling in beautiful Redfish and Spotted Seatrout.

Right now, our primary fishing technique involves casting popping corks to draw in the local species. The surface noise mimics feeding fish and has been working perfectly against the marsh grass lines during the higher stages of the tide. When the water drops, we transition to stealthy deep-water presentations, dropping live shrimp and bait into the deeper coastal pockets to target the trout and flounder holding a bit lower in the water column.

If you are planning a family vacation to the Georgia coast, this peak season window offers an amazing opportunity to catch quality fish. Because of the heavy summer tourism traffic, our calendar is filling up fast. We look forward to welcoming you aboard the HighHook and showing you what fishing in St. Simons Island is all about.
